What Pages Do You Need for YOUR Website?
What pages do you need for your website?
You are ready to create your website, but you are not sure where to start.
What pages do you need to have anyway?
Well, in this blog I am going to go over several pages that most services websites include and why. I hope this will help you decide which pages to include (and not include) on your website.
For all websites, there are some basic pages you should have on your site:
- A Home Page,
- An About Page, and
- A Contact Page.
Now, all this information can be included on the same page but should be in separate sections. This is at least the minimum information to include on your website.
Additional pages to include would be:
- A Services/Products Page,
- A FAQ Page,
- A Portfolio Page,
- A Testimonials Page,
- A Blog Page,
- An Events Page, and
- A Resources Page.
These pages would depend on your company and the type of services or products you offer and may be called something slightly different geared toward your website style.
Let’s take a look at each of these pages and the importance of each of them.
- Home Page
Well, this is a no-brainer. Every site needs a Home. The main page. This is the page you will direct your customers to describe what it is you do or offer and to whom. Some people use a landing page for a special event to direct their website to and then will have the Home Page as an overview of their business.
- About Page
This page lets your customer know a little bit about you so you can gain their trust. Buyers want to know whom they are buying from or they may not purchase your product or service.
- Contact Page
Always let your customer know how to reach you should they have a question, and just let them know you are a real person. Let them know the order in which you prefer to be contacted by laying out the order of preference on your page.
- Services Page
Include your Services or Products Page to let your customers know what it is you offer. What do you have to offer that will take away their pain points? You don’t have to include your price/rates, but a lot of customers will keep surfing if you don’t mention a range at the very least.
- FAQ
A Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) page is a good idea to keep your customers from having to contact you for easy-to-answer questions. This also saves you time from having to answer emails with the same questions over and over. You can also link this page from your Contact Page.
- Portfolio
If you are a designer or someone that produces a product, you may want to include a Portfolio Page with copies of your products to show customers your talents and skills. Be sure to get permission from your clients to show your works.
- Testimonials
Client and past co-worker testimonials are huge in building customer trust. If you have enough to be a separate page, this page is a good idea. Otherwise, include testimonials on other pages where they compliment the subject (i.e., on your Portfolio Page, on your Home Page, on your About Page, etc.).
- Blog
Blog posts are a “why to stay connected with your audience and customers” and drive traffic to your website. Adding fresh content to your website is important for your SEO ranking, and blog posts are a perfect way of achieving that goal.
- Events
If you are a service-oriented company and have events to share, having an Events Page with a calendar is another good idea to make searching easy.
- Resources
Sharing the resources, or tools, you use or recommend is always appreciated by your customers. If the resources have an affiliate program, take advantage of the program to earn a few extra bucks, just be sure to include your disclaimer statement.
You can have other custom pages depending on your unique circumstances, but these are the most common pages most companies would have on their website.
Do you agree or not agree with any? Or do you have others that I have not listed? Let me know in the comments below.
To recap,
The main pages (or at least sections) for every website are:
- A Home Page,
- An About Page, and
- A Contact Page.
With the additional following pages as needed:
- A Services/Products Page,
- A FAQ Page,
- A Portfolio Page,
- A Testimonials Page,
- A Blog Page,
- An Events Page, and
- A Resources Page.
